Thank you for visiting the SonShine Oaks Retreat website.

It is very likely that this will come as a surprise, but after many months of deep consideration and with much prayer and wise counsel, we are informing our faithful community of friends, family, and supporters that SonShine Oaks Retreat and the SonShine Oaks host family will be ending this chapter of ministry.

As of August 31, 2018 the Retreat ministry of SonShine Oaks will come to an end.

We have loved ministering to the community on Wadmalaw Island and the Charleston area and hosting many wonderful folks and groups at SonShine Oaks Retreat. Being here to provide a brief time of rest, renewal and encouragement has been a blessing to all who have come and to us too! We have truly been privileged and honored to pray for and with each of our guests through their sorrows and their joys while they are here – and after they leave.

A lot of thought and seeking God’s will has gone into the decision to close down the ministry of SonShine Oaks Retreat. Our board of godly and amazing individuals has expanded, and together we have asked them to help us walk through this journey.

We would like to give our thanks and appreciation to all our guests, friends, and supporters of the ministry over the years.

At this time, the 13 acre property on Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina known for the past three and a half years as SonShine Oaks Retreat is on the real estate market for sale. Due to this status and the need to be able to show the property to potential buyers at a moment’s notice, we are no longer able to host guests for overnight stays or day retreats. We have a few prior reservations that we are honoring during the month of August. Until the property sells, Scott and Sheryl Truesdell and Yvonne Miller will be continuing to live on the property. For those of you who have visited before, if you would like to visit for a short time before the property is sold, please give us a call! If we are available, we would love to see you again!

We do covet and appreciate your gracious understanding and sincere prayers for us all as we walk this new path. We love the Charleston area and have made many special friends while we have been here! Lord willing, we will stay in this area, but we will go willingly wherever God leads. We will continue as a family to minister to friends, family and new faces along the way on a personal level.

We also pray that any who find their way to this website will find other resources for a time of rest, refreshing, and renewal in your ministry! May God bless you and lead you . . .
